Multi-agent Simulation of Airline Travel Markets
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper explores the use of a learning classifier system variant, XCS, in learning effective airline decision rules within the context of a multiagent team simulation. From this study a general approach to modeling an airline market has been developed based on a multi-agent, team-based concept. Additionally, several preliminary trials of the simulation have been executed.

Designing New Ways for Selling Airline Tickets
Large body of recent work has been devoted to multi-agent systems utilized in e-commerce; in particular, autonomous software agents participating in auctions. In this context we modify a model agent-based e-commerce system so that it can serve as an airline ticket auctioning system. Such a system can be then combined with a Travel Support System that utilizes ontologically demarcated travelcont...
متن کاملData Collection and Analysis in the Air Travel Planning Domain
We have collected, transcribed and analyzed over 8 hours of human-human interactive problem solving dialogue in the air travel planning domain, including traveler-agent dialogues and the more constrained agent-airline dialogues. We have used this data to define and test an initial vocabulary, and to design an appropriate interface for the air travel planning domain. The initial interface design...

the help of powerful internal Client/Server systems. As in the past, customers now go back to calling the airline directly and pay there and then with their credit card. This aggressive procedure has forced many other airlines to also make direct reservations and by-pass the CRSs. Some carriers, such as Swissair, have come to an agreement with major travel agent chains which then can make their...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Model for Locating Hubs in a Competitive Environment under Uncertainty: A Robust Optimization Approach
This article explores the development of previous models to determine hubs in a competitive environment. In this paper, by comparing parameters of the ticket price, travel time and the service quality of hub airports, airline hubs are divided into six categories. The degree of importance of travel time and travel cost are determined by a multivariate Lagrange interpolation method, which can pla...
متن کاملMulti-Agent Based Simulation for Boarding
Optimizing the boarding process is one way for the airline industry to reduce the cost of the total air plane turn time i.e. the time between landing and take off. For this aim, boarding strategies that control when a passenger is allowed to board the plane are developed in order to reduce the overall boarding time. These strategies should be passenger friendly and robust to all kinds of distur...
